Back To School Crafts – Int’l Bloggers Club

Hi, everyone! Welcome to another month of our Int’l Bloggers Club Challenge! I look forward to this post every month because it is so funny to see the different things my bloggers’ friends do! If you remember, I teamed up three lovely ladies and each month we share different traditions, last month we talked about “summer activities” and the previous one was “furniture makeovers“. This month is about back to school crafts. Can you believe summer is almost over? It’s a pity for me, I could live in perpetual summer schedule all my life but I also enjoy the routines of the rest of the year.

Here in Spain, kids finish school around twenty something of June, and come back to school around the first or second week of September, depending on the type of school they are attending.

My daughters are really excited about starting again their dancing lessons and meet their friends too. They also wanted to make something special for the teachers, and we went hunting together to my craft room where we found some tins and a piece of scrap wood.

Little Miss S was the first one and she picked a tin

She used some chalk paint to paint it and gave it two coats

Once it was painted and dry, we searched for some embellishments and she chose lace and some fake pearls.

Then she decided she wanted to use some blue rhinestones too, and I helped her attaching everything with a hot glue gun.

Love how it looks and her teacher will be able to use it as a pencil holder, or flower pot or she can give it many other uses… I am sure she will love it too!

Then Miss A saw the pretty tin her sister made and wanted to make one too. She used different colors and different embellishments too, and she ended up with this

I love how both of them are open minded and used those colors of rhinestones; I would have never dared to try but I have to say they look great!

Miss A’s flamenco teacher is very talented and she performs every week a famous show called “Carmen”. As we had a flyer, Miss A asked for a piece of scrap wood because she wanted to make something special.

She painted it red and brush some wood glue at the back of the flyer because it was quite thick. Then she made some white polka dots to emulate a typical flamenco dress and let it dry.

She also design the tag with a piece of paper and some lace, isn’t it pretty?

I am sure all the teachers will be happy to receive such precious gifts because they are not only beautiful but they are also made with lots of love.

Hi, Stella! I wouldn’t have chosen blue either, but I have to admit I like it. The tin won’t be unnoticed for sure

The girls are so talented, love how they’ve used the same things but added their own unique creative touch. Bet the teachers will love it. It’s such a pity we don’t show our teachers in South Africa how much we appreciate them. I think I need to change that.

    • Pili says:

Yes, they have different personalities and their work reflects it. Here in Spain is not common to give teachers gifts or show them how much we appreciate them, but we are not a common family as well so I encourage the kids to be what they want to be and to not hide their feelings.

Your girls take after their mama Pili. Those tins are beautiful and reflect the personalities and individuality of the girls. The gift for the flamenco teacher is really extra special. So much attention to details with the polka dots and the lace on the tag. A lovely job. I wish you and your sweet girls a very happy start to the school year.

  3. Katrin says:

Aww, such cute gifts Pili! Your daughters are so creative, just like you and the tins can be used in tons of ways. Every teacher loves storage and they are super fun! The flamenco sign is so cute as well, perfect for her dance teacher!

Pili, what lovely gifts that your daughters made for their teachers!! I love the lace, pearls and rhinestones, such beautiful details, their teachers are sure to love them!! Your daughters are talented, just like their mom. 🙂

How adorable and creative are your girls, Pili! I’m sure their teachers are going to be thrilled with their gifts at the start of the school year. The embellished tins are so pretty and their uses endless for on top of the teacher’s desk.

    • Pili says:

The teachers were so surprised! It is not so common here to give teachers a gift at the beginning of the school year, but we like any excuse to make things for others.

  6. Linda at Mixed Kreations says:

Oh I love the cans! They both turned out beautiful! Love the colors and how their embellished. Your daughters teachers will love them. They did a wonderful job on them. They are creative like their mama.
