Can I start this post saying that I love Carnival? Yes? Then listen, I love Carnival!! It is that time of the year I can behave like a kid without worrying what others might think about me. It is not that any other time of the year I don’t behave like a kid, it’s just I don’t hide 😉
Last week the girls and I started to plan about it, and decided our costume. We were going to need some of our beloved cardboard, so we took some boxes from our last visit to the supermarket. Three like this:
I cut the corners with a pair of scissors
Then I designed some papers and printed them.
I guess you have an idea of what our costume could be.
I used some glue stick to glue the paper and decorate the box.
Miss A glued some pink paper in another piece of cardboard, you’ll see what for soon
And made some holes in it. Tinkerbell worked great
Then we printed some cone wrappers.
I used hot glue to make them stay on the holes, and some more hot glue for the cotton. Doesn’t it seem real cotton candy?
The last thing was adding some cords to hang it. I only used one from side to side, but I really recommend making it double for more balance, believe me.

I also made the skirts from an old piece of scrap fabric, they look quite nice, don’t they? As daddy was travelling, we had some laughs trying to set the timer on my cellular for a picture to send him.
Then we headed for “Sa Rua” which is kind of parade with music, costumes, and lots of fun!! Love how people are so uninhibited and extrovert on Carnival, they don’t fear to make jokes or talk to strangers.

Hahaha, cheeky monkeys understand each other, I know, that would be really fun for them and for us! I would love to go someday to Cadiz for the Carnival, people there is just so funny and I love the “chirigotas”. Enjoy the Carnival there for me next week!

Thanks, Mary! We rushed on Saturday morning trying to make the boxes and Miss A’s skirt, and we made it! The masks were only for the picture as I prefer to keep the kid’s privacy, but we really had a great time!

Hi, Keri!! Yes, Carnival is really fun!! I can’t remember a year I didn’t dressed up, I love it. I think next year we’ll plan in advance and will have a parade of our own.
You are so cute all together and this is a great idea for carnival costumes with low cost. Here in Greece we also love Carnival celebrations, every city enjoys this time of the year and we need it so much due our financial problems.

The girls really loved it!! Now they are older and are more aware of things, so they had so much fun.
