Easy Fabric Pumpkins

Hi, my sweet friends!

Welcome to another month of our Int’l Bloggers Club Challenge! This month Michelle from A Crafty Mix has joined us and we are so happy to have her with us! She blogs from South Africa so it will be fun to see different traditions there too. Last month we talked about “back to school crafts” and the previous one was “summer activities“. This month is about fall/spring diy and crafts, so whether you are on the northern or southern hemisphere you will find some inspiration.

Fall is finally here so let’s start preparing our home. These easy fabric pumpkins are so fun to do with kids they will enjoy it!

I love to use what I have on hand and this time is no exception. All began with an orange (yes orange!) curtain I had from can’t remember where/who. I thought it would be great to wrap a pumpkin with it, but I didn’t have any pumpkin at hand so I took some sheets of newspaper, crumpled it to form a kind of pumpkin shape and taped it all around.

Then the girls helped me to cut the fabric, wrap the pumpkin and add a bit of twine on the top. Easy-peasy.

For the stems, I soaked the twine in a bowl with water and glue and then wrapped it around a pencil to get that curly shape. Isn’t it cute?

That’s all, isn’t it easy? What about you? Are you making your own pumpkins?

Thanks so much for visiting and don’t forget to stop by to see what the other ladies have to share!!

Hi Sherry! I didn’t have any real stems so I thought it could be nice with twine. Thanks for stopping by!

These are really adorable, you have such a creative mind! I love it. At Christmas you could make a ball like this and add Santa’s hat, so many things could be made with this shape, you have my head thinking! I love how you made this out of what you already had on hand. Amazing.

    • Pili says:

Nikki love the idea, it could be great to hide a gift inside or just as decor… Thanks so much for kind words.

  3. Christine says:

Perfect idea! I had some orange curtains that I bought at Goodwill to use for the fabric. Hmmm I wonder where I put those…. Coming over from Your Inspired Design!

    • Pili says:

That’s Murphy’s Law; you don’t need it then you find it right away, you need it then you have to empty every drawer… Anyway, thanks for stopping by and glat to inspire you to make your own.

Hi Pili! We don’t do Fall here as such in Queensland, Australia. There just isn’t the variation in our seasons that you get where you are. I love that my U.S. friends celebrate the changes, and you do it so well! Of course it’s Spring here now, but I’m thinking these are so easy, I’m going to have to make me some Halloween pumpkins! Thanks for sharing at Five Star Frugal. Love Mimi xxx

Hi, Mimi! We don’t celebrate too much Fall here in Mallorca, Spain, not only because we don’t have trees that change its color, but also because we have quite warm weather all year. Anyway, I like to do with my girls something each season that reflects in which one we are… we have fun together.
      Thanks for stopping by!

How cute are these?!?!?!?! And like you said a great project for toddlers/older kids to help out with! I don’t know if I’ll be making my own pumpkins but I do want to try these! Thanks for sharing at the Happiness is Homemade Linky Party!

Catherine, they are really easy! Even you can fill them with treats and give them to the kids.
      Thanks for stopping by!

Hi, Anne! Many thanks! I’m honored to be part of your round up! 🙂 Love to party with you each week

    • Pili says:

I know, that’s why the fabric ended laying around in the fabric box waiting for the right time to use it. I did a huge amount of pumpkins and gave them away to my friends.

To make some small pumpkins I used roll of toilet paper wrapped with circle of fabric, round stick for stem then made some felt pumpkin leaves to stick on top of pumpkin and curled some jute string as you used on yours for stem. I got idea from another blog to make with toilet paper roll, wish could remember which blog.
Another way was to use big coffee can wrapped with some batting around can, used stick again (from neighbors, outside their yard along street. I’m sure somebody else made pumpkins same way, can’t take credit for idea.
Love your blog Pili, it’s wonderful to meet people from other countries, we live in Colorado in US..
    Hope you have wonderful week

    • Pili says:

Yours is a nice way to make pumpkins too, and I have lots of cans around the home.
I visited Colorado about 7 years ago and I loved it. We drove from Denver to Snowmas and then visited Aspen with some friends from there. It was summer and the weather was so nice!
I agree, it’s nice to meet people from other countries 🙂

Pili, These fabric pumpkins are super cute!! The stems and the little curly twine just adds to the cuteness factor. I definitely like how easy they are to make, and I bet my girls would love making their own pumpkins. I’ll put this on my list of must try projects for fall.

    • Pili says:

These pumpkins are a great craft for kids, no carving skills and save if you give them the fabric cut. I’d love to see your version

    • Pili says:

I think the curled twine make these pumpkins so adorable. It’s an easy craft and it can be done in several sizes
