Metallic Drawers Repurposed

I’ve had a busy week helping some friends with their move and conditioning their new apartment. They got rid of several things and offered me some, like these metallic drawers they had from an Ikea closet. They are huge and had no idea what to do with them, but they were in great condition so I took them anyway.

As little Miss S loves to draw and I just needed a place to show all her art, I thought I could use them for that purpose.

Now I also have a place to hang my project sketches or prints I like.

I can add as many strings as I want. I hope it doesn’t finish too much crowded!

I also added some of my favorite flowers, so every time I come into the room I see them

And it’s as simple as this! I hope you like it as much as we do!

Hugs,

Pili

The flower pot is what I love most! I still can see it through all the papers hanging there…
      Thanks for stopping by, Linda!

Yes, I love the color of the flowers and the copper color of the flower pot. They are not real flowers though, they always die… I forget to water them. But not these 😉

This is such a cute idea! you could attach a tray or dish on the bottom for keys and pocket junk and put it near the front door – showcase the kids art and useful 🙂 love it!! Thanks for sharing

Hi, Charlotte! Sadly I don’t have room for them near my front door, but that would be a great idea too.
      Thanks for stopping by!!

I love wire baskets! These are just perfect hanging the wall showcasing the artwork. Thanks so much for sharing your idea at Vintage Inspiration Party.

These are huge but the positive thing is that more artwork can be displayed! I appreciate you stopping by, have a happy Thanksgiving!

Yes, they do! I think I need more string and clothespins! The more room I have, the more room I need!
      Thanks for stopping by, Nikki!

Oh I love this idea! We currently don’t live in a home that this would match/look very good :/ But we’ll be moving soon and dont have remodeling plans complete! Thank you for sharing! I certainly see how this could be amazing for, as shown, displaying kids’ artwork and prized possessions when the fridge is a tad too full 😉 Thank you! I’ll pin it on my remodeling boards on FB too because it really is a wonderful idea!

Ill have to look into ways of finding some old metal shelving units. Maybe habitat will work. Hey – another post? Any suggestions for findng items like this to repurpose….. or how to tell if, once found, it is worth it?

Thank you so much, Kaitlyn!! I really appreciate your comment and ideas for another post. I will think about that although living outside the US can be a bit challenging. I get most of my stuff from my favorite flea market, and friends also give me some!

It’s really effective, Sally. No more wondering where I placed that piece of paper with a new idea
