My Personal Tool Box

Hi, friends!!

I hope you enjoyed the weekend, we did! I also had time to go into my craft room and tidy it a bit. It is unbelievable how long it takes to put everything in its place, and how fast it gets messy again.

You know I like to recycle almost everything that falls in my hands, and we’ve been eating lately some delicious strawberries that come in wooden crates like this

They are fantastic, and you can decorate them in so many different ways. I will show you soon some other uses I gave them but, for now, let’s talk about this one.

We have lots of tools, some of them are mine and some are from my husband. I like to keep mine handy because I use them almost every day, and I don’t feel like going from one drawer to another to get what I need. But at the same time, having the tools within easy reach means that it is easy for  EVERYONE to touch them.

Okay, not to nitpick but I like when I go to take something I need I expect to find it where I left it… that is my dream!! So I decided to decorate my crate with some subtle messages -or not too subtle-

The other side has the same message in Spanish, just in case they said: “sorry, I didn’t understand what it said”

The process was very simple. I painted it using my DIY chalk paint, and then decoupaged / glued the papers. I used white glue + water in a 50-50 ratio, and protected it with two layers of varnish.

Here’s is my tool box with the few tools I use frequently.

I must tell it has been a success! I think they don’t even dare to think about them! And I am really happy to finally have a tool box for myself.

What about you? Do you have tools too? Do you share them?

If you are looking for more crate ideas you will find some really good ones here.

Thanks for visiting, enjoy your week!

Hugs,

Pili

“Don’t even look at them” lol that made me laugh so much! I love what you did with this crate, I could certainly use one too since my husband is always borrowing my tools without asking! (and he has a basement full with his own tools!)

Pili, haha I love your idea for keep your tools for use only! Your signs are hilarious, and using a strawberry box is a great way to store them!! I have my own set of pink tools because I thought it would keep everyone from using them, but nope. My daughters think the tools are theirs because they are pink and my husband doesn’t mind using pink tools if they’re handy. Haha. At least the pink color let’s them know they’re my tools and need to be put back in my storage space after use. Needless to say, I need a box like yours!! 🙂

Haha Keri, so funny! I had no idea there were pink tools and no wonder your daughters think they are theirs. My husband wouldn’t mind using pink tools either, so they wouldn’t be sure as well

Aw Pili, this is such a great idea I really need to do something similar. I can Sooo relate, nothing is worse than going for your tool and then have to go on a quest for it!

Pili, I am giggling as I look at your new tool box, I wouldn’t take anything without asking first. And I would make sure I put it back where I found it. I love the touches that you added, very unique and creative, I expect nothing less from you.

Hi Katerina! Being an electrician you really need something just for you. I hope you are luckier than me and don’t have anybody trying to rob tools from your bag.
      Thanks for stopping by!
