Fabric Transfer Pillow Case

Hi all! After my sweet friend Olivia explained to me how to make a fabric transfer in less than five minutes, I started to think about my next project. I have some fabric scraps from one of my curtains, so I decided to do a pillow for my bed. I designed it with some pretty typography I have, I mirrored and printed it and prepared all the necessary materials: spray varnish, fabric, the design and a sheet of newspaper or similar.

How to make your fabric transfer pillow case

First of all, you need to lay the newspaper on your table to protect it. Then you have to place the design on it and spray it with the varnish; once you’re done place the design over the fabric and rub it with the back of a spoon to make the ink transfer. As soon as you’ve done all the rubbing just lift the paper and voilà! You can find graphic instructions at this post, I promise it’s easy and fast. It takes longer to explain than to do it.

Love the crisp lines it has. It would be great as a gift too, who doesn’t want a pretty pillow for their bed or sofa?

I share with you some tricks to make the ink fixes better on the fabric: 1) Soak your fabric in vinegar. 2) Iron the fabric by the wrong side.

I hope you find it as useful as I did!

I just wanted to double check on the vinegar trick. Do you spray the fabric with vinegar? It wasn’t really clear. Thanks. What a cute pillow.

    • Pili says:

Hi Meloni, you’re right it’s not clear enough on the post. I took a small container, poured some vinegar and soaked the fabric.
Thanks for your comment, I’ll edit the post.
