Spoiled Dog New Bed

Hi, everyone! I hope you’re doing great!

I want to share something with you I was asked to do some time ago. A lady in my town had a little old stool that was her dog’s favorite bed. She told me that she had transformed her living room and that stool didn’t fit it there as she was now using soft tones like whites and creams. She asked me to transform it into something that was worth looking at it, and she said that I could do what I wanted. I love when people let me be creative without telling me what to do. Does it sound as if I am anarchic? Yes, I confess I am.

Sorry for the pictures, but if you are following me for a while you would know then I’m a busy mum of three and I do my projects when I can, what it means at night most of the time. But now I’m a blogger too, so I promise I will take into account good quality pictures, pinky promise!

The bottom fabric was torn and the foam in bad shape, which meant I had to replace them.

I remember the first time I had to remove the staples out of a chair; I thought it would be fast, just a few staples couldn’t take too long. But facing reality, there are not just a FEW.

I had some spare foam at home and cut it to size. Then searched for some fabric that could fit in well with my idea, and I found this tote bag. It seems impossible it could fit, but it did!  I also spray painted the stool bones white.

I unsew the bag, washed it, ironed it, cut the fabric and stapled it in place. Then I took some painter’s tape to make the stripes, which I painted blue-grayish with my homemade chalk paint. The last detail was a piece of trimming to hide the staples, glued it with my hot glue gun.

I have to say that she loved it and her dog too!

Enjoy!

Thanks, Mary. They are not all new; it’s a mix between things I’ve done and things I’m going… I had done too many things I don’t know if I can keep up this the posts!
I always keep the bags I’m given because one never knows…

Your pictures look great to me!

Even though the rest of my family assures me that the dog wants no more than a box with a blanket in it, I dream of getting her the perfect bed — but only once a particular event of my life comes through. So the dog waits and waits.

But maybe she won’t have to — I really enjoyed this step by step visual.

Carolyn, I know what you mean. It took me quite a long time to make a bed for my dog, there were always other things to do around here. But I’m sure you dog is loved and she is happy with the blanket

Hahaha!! Why do we need to buy things when we already have them at home? I was going to use that bag never in my life

Thanks Katrin! I don’t like to spend money when I have something on hand that I can use. Now that you live in Spain you know what it’s said about catalan people, we are stingy 😉 LOL

Cute foot stool! I love the new look so much more then the old fabric. I have an old metal frame about the size of your foot stool stashed somewhere around here. I had thought of making a plant stand using tile, but I may just turn it into a foot stool.
