Our Christmas Tree

We couldn’t wait more and we decided yesterday to set up our Christmas tree! It’s the first year we have it ready before December. We were bringing things home from the storage room and some neighbors saw us and asked if we were starting decorating for Christmas (while we still have some fall decor) so we proudly said Yes! I’m sure they think we’re a bit crazy…

Our tree doesn’t have a theme really, with kids being involved it’s not easy to just stick to one thing. They find the whites quite boring and love lots of color… but we do love silver. And glitter! My girls and I agree so much on this last one 😉

We don’t have a skirt for our tree, but a Peruvian friend gave me this little blanket as a present some years ago and I love how the presents looks on it, it feels really cozy.

One of the simplest ornaments and at the same time of my fav are these yarn balls; I’ll show how you can do them in another post. Love whites and glitter so much!

We made these other ornaments about three years ago when the girls were toddlers. They are made out of toilet paper rolls and it’s really too fun to work with. If you want some other ideas you can have a look at this other post.

I painted them with silver spray paint and then we added some glitter. Life is much better with some glitter, isn’t it?

These other cute ornaments are special to me, they came from Arizona. My sweet friend Ellen was part of an ornament exchange party and we were paired together, so she thought that living in the Mediterranean we wouldn’t have too much snow around here and she was true. They make me think of a white Christmas.

We also collected some pine cones and added them to the tree with a bit of white paint. The hanging pen is little Miss S wish, we bought it last Christmas on our visit to Disney World and she keeps it as a treasure.

Right next to the tree there’s a peek of something it may seem as an armoire… yes, it is, and it has his own story. A friend of mine called me to say that an old german couple had to get rid of an armoire they have because they were refurbishing their apartment and there was no more room for it. She told me I could phone them (which I did) to see it before they gave it away to charity. When I first saw it I just fell in love and had no idea how but it would end up in my house for sure! I asked a friend his help with a van and his muscles as well as my husband’s, and here you can see it in all its glory. It’s on our living room because 1. there’s no room anywhere to have it, and 2. we store all our family games so we have on hand to play together.

Thank you so much, Keri!! We do love it!! We bought it about four years ago and each Christmas it’s been on a different place as I move furniture around all the time haha.

Hi Pili. You have a fabulous tree. Still thinking of what to make for our decorations. We don’t have a tree and honestly not really room for one but did think to use some of your ideas and others on the internet to make hanging decorations to hang from the ceiling light fittings. Have a wonderful Christmas. 🙂

Hi, Moira. There are great ideas out there for decorations with no need for a tree. In fact I am preparing a round about of “fake” Christmas trees that I’m sure you would love.
      Have a wonderful weekend!

I love your tree Pili. I love it when there are special ornaments on the tree to reflect special family history or moments. These are the trees I like the best, not the perfect ones with no personality. So good to hear that your girls are helping along. Your little paper tube stars are also very cute. And the arnoire is gorgeous! Lucky you.

There has never been a perfect tree at home, we do it our style and we enjoy a lot doing it. The girls are helping and playing along… I don’t know where starts and finishes each one haha

Your tree looks lovely. I like a tree with a bit of colour too. Don’t even get me started on glitter, I’m exactly like you and your girls with that. We are going to put ours up tomorrow evening. We have some mulled wine and we’ll put on the Christmas songs too. It’s a real event. I love making a big deal out it.
