Hi, my sweet friends!
Summer has been long and lovely but September arrived and that means coming back to our routines… I am a free spirit so I could live without any schedule happily, but having two little girls at home forces me to be a “normal” person… I will be a free spirit again once they leave the nest which I hope it will take quite a long time!
One of the things I like more about having routines is writing more consistently here on the blog, and especially there is a moment every month I look forward to it. Do you know which one?
The Int’l Bloggers Club!!
Maybe you remember that it was formed by four ladies around the world but it has grown. Some other ladies have joined us and we are almost controlling the globe! The more the merrier!
Let me introduce them here and you will see their projects at the bottom of this post, don’t forget to visit them to see what they’ve come up to with this month’s theme… PAPER.

The theme we chose for this month has been perfect for me because I had been thinking for a while how to decorate my home without breaking the bank, and paper is so inexpensive but it can make a big difference too
Then the project appeared crystal clear in my head…
Home Decor On a Budget – Paper Pennant Banner Garland
I just love garlands, any type and style.
Fabric, paper, wood, leaves, banners, tassels, pompoms and anything you can imagine. They also look great at parties, nursery or kids room, living rooms, over frames, in a wall, hundreds of possible combinations to add some extra decor.
After my hall (half) makeover I still had the right wall needing some attention. Also, I usually take lots of pictures for my furniture makeovers because I sell them, so “attrezzo” is never too much.
I decided to make my own paper pennant banner version and I will share the free printables with you in case you like to DIY on the cheap too and want to use them.
I love textures and burlap is great for a rustic look. Then I looked for a more subtle design and chose these two. You can download them HERE
At first, I wanted the word HOME and as I was designing it realized that LOVE have the same amount of letters and it would be lovely too.
Why I had to choose? They would be inexpensive so I did four, two with Home on different papers, and two with Love with the same papers

You can also download a blank pennant banner with both textures but no letters, that way you can customize it even more. You’ll find it HERE
From here the process is really simple, I feel a but dump to say what to do because even my kids can do it without any help…
First I printed and cut the two paper pennant banner garlands I wanted.
Now it is time to get creative and think how you want to hang it. I had some twine on hand and it goes really well with the fake burlap.
For that one, I used a punch to make holes and pass the twine through so it shows. For the second one, I decided I would use some glue and hide the twine behind the paper.
It was done in no time and love how it looks.
Do you remember I told you I like pompoms as well? I bought some time ago a pompom maker that works as a charm.
The only thing I will do next time different will be to print the reverse of the paper if I am going to use it on a mirror. Oooops!
Despise of that it looks like real burlap, don’t you think?
This mirror is one of my latest creations, I will share the how-to on the blog soon.
Don’t forget I still had another paper pennant banner garland, here it is.
Different colors, that way I won’t get bored 😉
Beautiful too.
I don’t know why pictures don’t reflect how pretty is this one… Do you have a favorite?
I hope you like them and feel free to download the templates and use them; I’d love to see what you do with them! You can always send me an email or contact me through social media.

So super sweet Pili. Banners are always a winner and I’m loving the burlap pattern you used behind the letters. I had to laugh when you said that you need to remember to print both sides if you want to hang it over a mirror. That’s something I would have forgotten too 😀
I love the paper burlap idea so much!!! really so cute
Pili I really love the printed paper. I had never thought to do that. It looks like burlap to me and so much nicer than just the plain paper. It also goes perfectly with the rustic look of that gorgeous mirror and the adorable pom poms! Budget-friendly decorating is the best!
Banners are one of the best decor elements, inexpensive enough to update anytime, they make a statement, and are so pretty.
This one is beautiful with the added Pom Poms.
Both are so pretty Pili. I also like budget friendly decor and banners are always a great way to add some extra detail. They look great on the mirror and on the wall! And I love that mirror!!
I love draping banners over mirrors, headboards, and chalkboards around the house. Your burlap banner is perfect for Fall! Pinned 🙂 So excited to be part of this group that I’ve been admiring since the beginning. Can’t wait to join you for next month’s challenge!
Home decor or small home renovations can make your home look more stylish and modern. People should definitely invest in home decor items as well to beautify their home.
I totally agree, specially if home decor is budget friendly.
