The Frenchified Tray

If someone asks me which are my favorite places to buy, I would say flea markets!! I love them!! Time seems to stop when I am there; I can get lost there for hours, admiring the things they have, chatting with the sellers and finding hidden treasures.

Not always there are real treasures, but I usually have great finds at a great price. Like this plain tray. The Frenchified Tray, using some paint, graphics and a transfer technique.

It was in great shape and size, about 60 cm long, and I got it for 0,50 €!! Yay!!

As soon as I reached home, I clean it and painted with some white DIY chalk paint.

While it was drying, I printed a beautiful graphic I found at The Graphics Fairy; make sure you visit Karen, she has tons of pretty images to download. If you want it in a bigger size, click on the image and download it from the link.

Then I transferred it to the tray, the process is really simple and this tutorial will guide you step by step.

The last thing was to age it with some dry brush technique on the sides.

For the borders, I just took a piece of foam and black paint and tapped them. I used the same technique in my Christmas decorations.

I love how it looks now, and if I had to buy it at the store it would have cost me much more than what I paid for it!!The Frenchified Tray, using some paint, graphics and a transfer technique.

Do you visit flea markets too? What are your favorite things to buy there?

You can have a look at other items I have purchased there and transformed among some of my projects.

Thanks for visiting!

Hugs,

Pili

Very pretty tray makeover Pili! The graphic is also very unique. I’ll have to go over and visit the graphics fairy sometime. You find so many wonderful things that I don’t find anywhere! You must have hawk eyes!

I love flea markets and we just discovered one going on every Sunday in Jerez which is about 20 minutes from us. So that’s great! I love the price tag on your tray, perfect! And how you transformed it is so pretty Pili!

Pili, once again you made something beautiful!! I love the French style you incorporate into your pieces!! It looks so chic and elegant!! The price is awesome too!! Nice job my friend!!

I was really happy to find it for that price, sellers have realized they can make business out of furniture and decor stuff so they are raising prices

Hi Pili I am so in awe of your creativity! This is beautiful and I would love one for my new home. xx Perhaps I should try.

Thank you so much, Sue. They are not hard at all to make, and then you end up with something nobody else has.

      Have a nice week!

Pili, Thanks so much for linking up your beautiful tray at Brag About It! I feel the same thing about flea markets, although I don’t get to go often. You had a great find and the makeover is beautiful! Pinned and tweeted 🙂

I love flea markets and thrift stores and probably spend way too much time there, and money according to my kids. Beautiful transformation on the tray and I will have to try this. We would love for you to share this at Celebrate Your Story Link Party. The party goes live every Monday at 8pm. Here’s the link for this week’s party and we hope that you can join us. http://www.thesweetsensations.com/are-you-ready-for-easter/

I do love flea markets and can’t get enough of them in my area. Hopefully they will start soon. I just love your tray! I have seen so many transfers from the Graphics Fairy and the pretty projects from them but I have not tried it yet. Too scared! Yours is perfect.

    • Pili says:

You are really kind, AnnMarie. I have a tutorial on the transfer method and I can say it is not difficult at all. I hope you can get soon more flea markets, it is so fun go shopping there!

    • Pili says:

Thank you so much, Christine!! In fact, I sell most of the things I do because otherwise I would need to live in a castle to keep everything.

The tray looks wonderful. I love the graphic that Karen has done too. I sometimes have a look through our second hand thrift shops but seem to lack your creativity in having the eye for some projects. I’m using pinterest more to inspire me though (and of course following your projects!)
