Scrap Wood Pet Bed

Hey guys!

Our dog Pinxo is a spoiled dog, and I thought I could make a pet bed for him with some scrap wood I had at home. We rescued him from a dog shelter 11 years ago when he was just about 5 months old. Our son was by that time 8 years old and he potty trained him from the beginning because we were living in a small apartment. Here’s a very in-depth guide on How to Potty Train a Puppy Fast by Lene Kaufmann – an experienced puppy training professional- just in case you need it.

Then when it was finished our sweet bunny Manchitas joined him! He’s such a good dog that didn’t say anything about the invasion…

I don’t know how but I lost all the pictures I took while making it, so I’ll share the pictures I took when I was requested to make another for a friend. You’ll see it is not difficult at all.

The first thing we did was measure Pinxo. Then I headed to the basement, fingers crossed to find a piece of scrap wood that would fit. And I found it! It was a 70 x 50 cm piece of particleboard.  I also found another big piece that would be used for the sides.

I cut the big one with these measures:

3 – 70 x 5 cm
4 – 47 x 5 cm
5 – 10 x 4 cm

I nailed the boards together and added some wheels. The girls helped me to paint it light gray.

Then Miss A dry brushed with some black paint.

I also transferred the name of the dog, if you want to see the process you will find it on this tutorial, I promise it is really easy! We added some cushions and a blanket, and it was ready!! As Pinxo wasn’t available for the picture, we used a substitute 😉

Pinxo is really happy with his pet bed, and I know Terry is happy too!

What about you, do you have pets are home? If so, do they have a special place?

How cute is that! Our bunnie’s name is Manchitas too, that’s so funny, but she lives outside in the garden with her hubby Blanco, lol! They do have a little shelter, but they mostly come into our “lavadero” , so, I’m thinking I could do something like this for them in there! I love it, I’m sure they would too!

You’re kidding me!! We had another rabbit which was a female whose name was Blanquita hahaha!! We can’t have them in the garden because they go to our neighbour house and from them run away.

Pili, what a sweet doggy bed for Terry!! You’re incredibly talented to have made this!! I like that the bed is on rollers! We don’t have a dog or bunny but I’m sure my kiddos would love any pets at this point. 😉 When we finally get a pet, I’m sure I’ll be building a bed just like this one! 🙂

    • Pili says:

Thanks, it is the first thing I build myself without help, I am so proud lol!! The rollers are fantastic because the girls take it outside during the day and bring it home at night.

    • Pili says:

No, we don’t allow the bunny to be there, she was just visiting. Pinxo is trained to pee outside, the bunny is in progress… ahem ahem

Pili, Love this little bed you made for Pinxo! Thanks for sharing. Pinned and tweeted. Love that you share your projects with us at Snickerdoodle Sunday!

No Beester, unfortunately they aren’t. You should make one for yours out of metal!

Thank you for stopping by, enjoy your week!

Hahahaha!! No problem, we can make room for you and enjoy some sunny days here in Mallorca. You’re invited!

Pili, every single corner of your home is filled with your creative touch, isn’t it? I am sure your entire family is impressed with your talent and it looks like your girls will carry it on when they get older and have their own families. So your dog isn’t the only one in your family getting the benefit, generations to come will get benefit from your talents. That is the coolest.

And I really love the dog bed, a little rustic but very comfortable and stylish.

How talented you are to make your dog’s bed ,looks pretty comfy for dog or bunny. Dogs are more about sharing their space. Our dog who looks just like yours, has a palette in floor of our bedroom in corner, Our cat loves to sleep there during day when he’s in other parts of house or outside.
Our dog is 8 1/2 yrs. old, is a black lab/border collie and so smart, very affectionate. We got him at a year old. few months after our mini black cocker we’d had for over 14 yrs. died. Took me while before I was ready for another dog. I am so wrapped up in our animals, they’re like my kids.
Your dog’s bed is wonderful, maybe we should make one for our dog. He likes to really stretch out tho.
    .Have wonderful weekend

Sorry for the late reply Jane Ellen, you always make my day with your comments 🙂 How sweet your dog shares his bed too, dogs are incredible and they give us so much love.
Thank you so much for stopping by, have a wonderful week

Oh too cute Pili. Our fur babies would be fighting over this one for sure. I can just picture them all trying to lie in it. I’m not sure if 3 doggies and 4 kitties will fit though, LOL, but I’m sure they’ll try.

    • Pili says:

That simple image on my mind cracks me up Michelle! But I have no doubt knowing how talented you are you could come up with any cool idea for them
